FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS
Erected in 1970, Menchville High School continues to excel in Academics, Activities and Athletics. The Monarchs are members of the Virginia High School League and compete in the Peninsula District and Eastern Region.
The mission of Menchville athletics is to promote participation and sportsmanship in a competitive interscholastic program and aid in the physical and emotional development of our student athletes. Every athlete is provided with opportunities and experiences to foster lifelong qualities such as teamwork and self-discipline. A student’s participation in athletics enhances their skill for living and learning by offering different learning experiences outside the classroom. The NNPS Athletic Handbook is an invaluable tool covering all aspects of athletics at Menchville and should answer most of your questions including an explanation of the NNPS 2.0 grade point policy.
In order to try out for a team all athletes must have a current physical submitted on the VHSL Physical Form.
Menchville High School has a rich tradition in athletics. We have won numerous championships in both district and regional competition and, in 2009, we won the VHSL State Championship in baseball. The team was named THE USA TODAY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS and Coach Phil Forbes the USA TODAY NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR. We have won the Julian Rice Trophy for 12 years in a row. This honor is awarded to the Peninsula District School that accumulates the most points during the athletic school year.
